About the Event

Course 1: Building the Evidence-based Framework for Prevention Practice

This course provides an overview of the science that underlies evidence-based prevention interventions and strategies, and the application of these effective approaches in prevention practice (30 hours).

Course Learning Objectives

· Describe the application of prevention science to prevention practice and to evidence-based prevention interventions

· Summarize and apply rules of ethics to professional behavior in prevention programming.

· Review the professional knowledge, competencies and skills needed to select and implement evidence-based prevention interventions and policies

· Discuss the Implementation Cycle and identify the implementation steps in each phase

Course Structure

Module 1 - Part 1 - Global Impact of Substance Use    Part 2 - Physiology and Pharmacology for Prevention Professionals

Module 2 - Prevention Science and Its Application to Evidence-Based Prevention Interventions

Module 3 - Critical Theories for Evidence-Based Prevention Interventions and Policies

Module 4 – Exploring Evidence-Based Prevention Interventions and Policies

Module 5 - Trained Prevention Professionals: Competencies and Skills Module 6 - Ethics for Prevention Professionals
